Looking for meaning but coming up empty
Knowing things should fit, but they’re falling apart
Searching without finding, testing without tasting
Where is the key that will open my heart.
So many voices, saying “I have the answer”
Solutions are found in recess of time
Come won’t you join me here on my journey
The key to your heart, lies in your mind.
So you think and you think, and you think you’re progressing
As reams of information fill up you mind
But what you can’t see is that you’re really regressing
And the boat that you’re seeking has left you behind.
Folly! Folly! All of it’s folly
Striving for something, you can never attain
For just when you feel, you’re finally arriving
You wake up to find someone’s pulling your chain.
What is a dream?, what is a fantasy
Are they not both, just a bit of the same
How do you know your perception is accurate
Maybe someone’s just playing a game.
Where lies the truth? Where lies the fiction?
Is life a reality, or is it a sham
If all that I know were to fall down around me
Would I still be the person I think that you am.
Looking for meaning but coming up empty
Knowing things should fit, but they’re falling apart
Is this the end, or is it just the beginning
Where is the key that will open my heart.
